Hi bit of a story here so please bear with me
My wife lived in a property back in 2010 only for around 6 months (before I knew her) and didn’t pay her British Gas bill she moved out and hasn’t had any contact with them since in 8-9 years, were just sorting her credit file as we want to go for a mortgage and it turns out they registered a default against her in 2013, am I right in saying under ico guidelines they shouldn’t be registering a default 3 years after she went into arrears? Only asking because if I can get them to push the default date back to when it should be (around mid 2011) then it would be over 6 years old and statute barred and also should drop off her credit file... trying to do anything I can to help us get a mortgage

Or if you know it’s owed just be moral and pay it.
It will then drop off sometime this year depending the month it was issued in0
