I currently have fallen behind with my council tax bill and was immediately on the phone with the council tax office who told me that the debt had been passed to the jacob's enforcement agencies. So I had contacted them arrange for a payment plan. Which is was to pay £33 every month. With the debt been £187.13. Due to my mental health and with other debts in tried to commit suicide thinking this of a way out of everything. . I now have been charged for hand delivered letter from them totalling £437.16 . My sister tried to inform them of the situation and the hand delivered letter was posted in the communal area of the property. She was told it basically nothing she coutdoor sort out. And this week I have now had a 7 day notice 9f removal of goods ... which has now sent my mental state. In a bad place again.:money:

Are you getting help for your mental health? Is there someone who can properly act on your behalf?0

Listen, if you read this then make two calls tomorrow:
1. StepChange on 0800 138 1111 (8am till 4pm on Saturday) to get some free advice on the debt problems you have, hopefully also with an action plan.
2. Samaritans on 116 123 (I don't think there is an area code by the looks of it!) to at least talk about the suicidal thoughts before you can see a GP. They are helpful
If what you describe is true then they are treating you really badly here and you need to speak to someone in the know. The above two points are a real step in the right direction in regards to that.0 -
Legally the decision on vulnerability is for the council and enforcement agents to make, there is no statutory definition of vulnerability for enforcement purposes.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0
