I got married in the open at Urquhart Castle got married in the ruined kitchens no gazebo or anything but then it was a humanist ceremony and in scotland as long as it’s respectful you can have a humanist marriage any time or place

Beautiful location (if the weather is OK) ...

The proposed changes are for weddings in England/Wales .... and will make things similar to the position in Scotland, where the law on marriage is (and always has been) quite different.

I wouldnt hold your breath about it happening any time soon. As with all changes it can really take its sweet time.

If you want a cheap ceremony - do the legal bit with two witnesses in a registry office, and then you can have whatever kind of ceremony you want wherever you can find somewhere that will let you!
