iPad Factory Reset

I was given what was described as an iPad Air, ex-demo model. It looks like one ok, it appears to have been Factory Reset but I just want to be sure.
I’ve read ‘How To Restore To Factory Settings’ on the Apple Website but I have a few questions before I start
The first one is the passcode. It asks me to set up a pass code. Should I do this before or after I do a Factory Reset?
The second which is confusing me. The capacity is down as 16GB, very low indeed. I already have an iPad an iPhone and and the figures show I have 3.4 of my 5.00 GB used but I’m concerned that the apps I have on my iPhone and iPad will automatically appear on the new iPad and thus rob it of the little memory it has. Is this a leg I ate worry?
Finally, Apple say connect to iTunes on PC via cable. Do I have a o do this as it’s an ex-demo model and I’m doing the Factory Reset just to be sure
Any other bits of advice you have to offer will be greatly accepted

If it's asking you to type a new passcode and can't go any further, it's probably been reset already.0

icloud storage could help. You can make storage space available on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch when you use iCloud Photos and turn on Optimize Storage.0

I think the restore function will offer two 'restore' from options.
1. Restore from iTunes -you mentioned from pc or mac
2. Restore from iCloud backup -if there was a WiFi iCloud backup saved on the iPad -if it's currently working you could take iCloud backup 1st if you have the storage.
3 . If you can setup a passcode then setup digits up as you require -if it asks for current passcode then this may not be an option.
I've lots of iPad usage experience though have never used mine in ex demo mode t.b.h.
I have done a few system restores if I forgot passcode or if my iPad had become locked unexpectedly.Replenished CRA Reports.2020 Nissan Leaf 128-149 miles top charge. Savings depleted. VM Stream tv M250 Volted to M350 then M500 since returned to 1gb0
