Twittering about energy suppliers
I'm looking to change my supplier - haven't done it for ages.
Since my last swap the spectre of the smart meter has arrived and I'm really not keen. I'm not normally a Luddite but I really don't like the idea of them and the problems they seem to be generating. Most suppliers are very clear when they do insist on your having one as a requirement but some just don't mention it and I don't want to find myself saddled with one. I'm looking at Utility Point at the moment.
Any words of comfort for me?

Many, many threads on this forum re Smart meters.
At the end of the day a meter is a meter - it registers what your consumption is.
I don't think there are any more problems with smart meters than the previous generation. The problems on the forum are often consumer led - in that consumers don't read meters or their bills.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
I have just moved to Utility Point.
There was never any mention of Smart meters at all from them.
I don't mind if they fit one as Robin9 says 'a meter is a meter'0 -

All energy suppliers will have to offer smart meters and are required to inform their customers of their availability.
You can always say no.
If UP are not offering them yet, they will be doing so very soon.
Maybe they are too busy currently pushing their various forms of Insurance, pensions, savings , mortgages and their boiler replacement & maintenance plans?

I've been with Utility Point since May.
And not once have they mentioned anything about smart meters.0 -
as long as the small print doesn't insist on one, just pick one.
