According to your other post here https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5934093/confused
You wife claims ESA and recently went for an assessment. Was the ESA claim a joint claim or was your wife claiming Contributions based ESA?

Assuming you were earning more than £116/week when you went sick you were entitled to Statutory Sick Pay for 28 weeks. This will have been paid to you by your employer as part of the occupational sick pay you are receiving. When your SSP entitlement ran out you became entitled to claim new style ESA. You can claim now and ask for it to be backdated to when your SSP ended or by three months, whichever is the later date. You need to get a form SSP1 from your employer confirming when your SSP entitlement ended - they should have issued this to you automatically after you had been ill for about 23 weeks.

Depending on how your health condition affects you, you may also want to look at PIP.

Two threads will get even more confusing!

Is the ESA contribution based or income based?

Who is claiming ESA - you or your wife?

    Are you receiving SSP?
Have you had a SSP1 form from your employer?/

What is the cancelled medical you have referred to on your other thread?

Please reply on this thread - https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5947400/n-h-s-pension
detailing the exact household income, any benefits currently received and amount, your circumstances and current savings.

Do you claim council tax support?

Poppy, Alice - completely missed that OP has parallel thread running (even though I’ve been posting in it!). Very confusing and not likely to result in the best advice.

OP you really should keep to one thread because it gets confusing, especially when others go out of their way to try to help you.
