Hi
Are there any energy providers whose Gas unit rate charge is less than 2.84p?

Also, are there any providers or any sites that can be used to search purely on unit rates?

    1. Unlikely, 2.84p is so last year !
    2. No, but why ? The unit rate is only part of the equation and on its own is pointless. Combined with daily charge and actual annual consumption it is the only time it is relevant, something all the comparison sites do for you.

Re: 2 - i have done a separate post "Gas bills - Standard industry formula"

if the answer to that post is "yes" that the standard industry formula is the same for all providers then it is really just the unit rate that i need to look for...and given it's winter, Gas consumption is on the high so am looking for a competitive unit rate. Also, I think the daily charge is minimal in comparison to the usage total (£). For instance £5 on daily charge (@18p) versus £70 (formula * 2.84p) on my consumption for last month.

The only figure that matters is the total annual cost, which is exactly the figure that any comp site will give you.

Depends what you call minimal - you easily pay 25p - 30p a day. That's £100 a year. On my bill that would be over 25% of the total cost.

As others have said the important figure is the overall cost.
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

    Which was:

1.Are there any energy providers whose Gas unit rate charge is less than 2.84p?

2 Also, are there any providers or any sites that can be used to search purely on unit rates?

No website gives this information; not least because it is meaningless!

    There are 10 different regions,

XX different providers, each with different tariffs, some for a fixed term, others variable.

Daily standing charge ranges from zero(0p) to over £1

Discounts vary for dual fuel, on-line, payment method.

Some will not allow gas only - you must have dual fuel.

I have one account where the cheapest overall tariff costs me over 5p/kWh
  • I live in one of the cheapest energy areas. Best I could come up with was 3.4p /kwh and approx 18p daily charge with the here today gone tomorrow fly by nighters
.I remember over a decade ago when all prices where much higher until the huge drop in the dollar oil price, so 3.4 p/kwh is still good..I m more concerned with electricity prices with 13/14 p a kwh about the cheapest I can get. Zog Energy heading the list on Uswitch

2.95p this time last year on a 2 year fix about the best .
Prices then started to rise throughout the year.

Answer to original question is no but double check with a Comparison site.

Any switch user should carry out a background check before they go bump not after.
