The standard industry formula Octopus energy are using to calculate my gas bill is:

Units Consumed (Cubic Meters)
× Volume Correction (for temperature & pressure)
× Calorific Value (energy in each m3 of gas)
÷ 3.6 (convert from joules)
» Usage (in kWh)

Volume Correction (for temperature & pressure) = 1.02264
Calorific Value (energy in each m3 of gas) = 39.1
÷ 3.6 (convert from joules) = 3.6

Are the values for the above three the same as other providers?

Comments

  • Yes although the Calorific Value will vary by region and billing period (it is an average over that time period as the CV value is published on a daily basis)
