Keeping Aldi receipts to prove I've shopped there

Dear all, I've had a read through some threads to see if I can find the answer but am even more confused now!

I shop at Aldi which has one of those machines where you need to input your reg number to park. Just in case I've typed it wrong etc I keep my shop receipts so I can prove to the manager that I've shopped there. (because of adverse publicity that seems to be as far as any appeal needs to go)

But how long should I keep these receipts for? I read they can still chase you after 6 years? That seems unreasonable so I would be grateful if someone could clarify.

Thanks - EJ

A PPC can take you to court for up to six years.
Keeping receipts for that long is a hassle, but you could scan them, or pay by card and ensure you keep electronic copies of statements.

It is believed that the contract between Aldi and the parking scammers currently prohibits them from starting court, but a new contract could change that.

Alternatively, if possible shop where parking scammers do not operate.

    Other supermarkets are available.

The name of the game is that if you have a receipt and get a ticket, you act immediately and complain to the MD to get it cancelled. So, you keep the receipts and keep a note of the MD

We can't give you a definitive answer, but if it's an Aldi site managed by ParkingEye ANPR cameras, then PE are pretty efficient at whacking out NtKs within a couple of weeks.

If it's an Aldi store on a multi-occupied retail park, then it may not be PE involved, in which case much depends on who the PPC is. But most of the 'big ones' aren't slow in coming forward.

PPCs only have 6 months to apply to the DVLA for keeper data, so you could perhaps work on a 6-month destroy point. The caveat here is that if you move address any time in this 6 months and either not inform the DVLA of the new address for your driving licence and V5C, separate notifications, or there is a delay by the DVLA in updating your records, then there can be a bit of a black hole and something could jump out to bite any time in the following 6 years.

Rather than keeping scraps of paper, why not take a photo of each receipt, if you are that concerned, then they can be stored in your camera (or transferred to your computer) for as long as you like?

If you haven't got a PCN within a couple of months then I'd say it's safe.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
