Requesting a later completion date...

It's January. The OP is talking about completion in April, not August.0

Yes, generally you go as fast as possible towards completion. Completion being the date that is mutually agreeable between all parties.I suppose I just wanted to know whether or not April would be reasonable, or whether the general idea is go as fast as possible towards completion.
Personally I'd say that April would be early if you're only at the offer being accepted stage. But maybe my 4 moves haven't been average.0 -
Fingers crossed you get what you want, just had my offer accepted and don't want to be exchanging before end of march regardless of how quickly seller wants to move. My solicitor said he can slow things down anyway (worrying as usually solicitors seem to be slow at the best of times). I wouldn't have thought April would be out of the question in the slightestAn answer isn't spam just because you don't like it......0

I think the vendor would be likely to be much happier with a further off completion date as long as the exchange date is done as soon as possible. However, as others have said, given the stage you are at then April is probably in the time frame of reality rather than a delay.
So when you see your vendors next week, rather than start by asking if it's OK to have a delayed completion date, which in reality it probably won't be, just tell them if asked you've been advised by your broker/lender that late March early April is the likely completion date. If not asked, don't say anything and wait until you get much more certainty on likely dates.0
