you can use something like https://www.memtest86.com/. Personally think it the disk. Also on dell web site there are free diagnostic software0

In equally frustrating news.. I put a post on the dell community forum yesterday, but I'm now completely unable to update it or post anything else on the community forum:
I'm logged into my dell account, when I click the community tab it moves me to dell community and I have a sign in option top right, when I click that it loads back to the dell community main screen with topics/forums.. I never get the actual login screen0 -
As mentioned earlier, don't expect to fix the problem by simply removing the dodgy RAM (if there is one), damage has been done.
I am a bit confused when you said 'on the new one': do you have a new memory stick?
In any case what you can do, what I would do, is to find or borrow a good memory stick, any size (as long as it's compatible with your laptop) and install the O.S. from scratch. If you see no errors, you know that the fault is in the memory.
I've seen that a lot in the past, a dodgy RAM module that works in a slot but doesn't in another (sometimes it's also a faulty slot on the motherboard, but that's less common).
Hi,
Yeah I have some separate ddr4 ram that I know works... that works in both slots, so they're both ok. Odd that the 'faulty' ram only works in one and the spare ram works in both.
Yeah, I think I'm resigned to a rebuild, unfortunately I'm no longer even getting that option.. it just boot loops for the initial splash screen, can't get boot menu, but can get the diagnostics menu.I get the same result; when I attempt to sign in from the Dell Community home page, I'm just taken back to the Dell Community home page. I've tried with Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer and Google Chrome.
Yeah, thank you for testing :-)I contacted dell on fb and they confirmed it's under maintenance for two days..... nothing like putting an announcement on the website to let us know, eh? ;-)
In other news my ex is going to file a section 75 claim.. it was purchased on currys buy now pay later. Does anyone know where we'd go to file a claim?0
