hello there
We are just fed up with agent messing us about and are thinking of going DIY?
As we have been relaying on agents to do the paper work etc, we are exploring the option to see how easy/difficult it is to manage your property agent free?
Any website(s) which might us to understand the pro/con on the subject?
cheers

Although it's not set out in a step-by-by guide, as such the Landlord Zone would be a good place to start.Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0

There are a number of Landlord Associations which you can join for a subscription which will provide all the information and advice you need.
Some give preferential insurance rates, hold seminars, free legal advice, advice on legislative changes, regular newsletters etc.... well worth the money and IMO a must if you intend going down the DIY route.
Google Landlord Associations for a list.0 -
https://www.singingpig.co.uk is the best property discussion board in the uk0

Research research research..... Learn as much as you can before going DIY.

The NAEA can supply the coursework for the Technical Award in Residential Letting & Management. It's about £195 and would provide you with a reasonabally comprehensive guide to letting your property.0

Lawpack do some good books "Renting - the essential guide to tenants rights" by property solicitor tewssa shepperson is brilliant for landlords too0

The "Renting for Dummies" guide is actually an excellent reference for the basics.
Once you have mastered the basics, landlordzone is a fantastic resource. Although these are not guaranteed to the be the only two resources you will ever need, they may well be.
What size of property etc is it you are renting out? I will be happy to give you a few pointers of what to look up.November £10 a day challenge - started 10th November

How far away from you is the property. The reason I ask is we manage our own BTL's in the village we live in, but when they here 30 miles away we used an agent. If it is on your doorstep, DIY is fine. However, if not, it can (and does) become a real burden. Otherwise look around for another agent.Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal.
