Very.com claiming my refund package is empty!

Hi, I am new to this site so hoping I am posting in the right place and that someone will be able to help me. I have returned some items to Very.co.uk and they have refunded 3 out of the 4 items in the parcel. They won't even entertain refunding the fourth item unless I can give the the tracking number from CollectPlus. Firstly, I don't understand how giving the the tracking number provides proof of the fourth item in the package but also I have tried to contact CollectPlus and I'm not getting anywhere with that either. I have spent over 3 hours, in total, on the phone to Very being put on hold and being told that all managers were unavailable, The latest was that one would call me back before closing ...they closed 10 minutes ago and no call.
I don't know what else to do. They have the dress returned, unworn, returned in the same parcel as the other three - yet will not refund me and it feels as if I don't have a leg to stand on. Any ideas and thank you in advance.0 -

You should receive a receipt with a reference code on it when you return an item via CollectPlus.
You may struggle to get a copy of it now. Perhaps your best bet is to pop back to the CollectPlus you used and ask for their assistance. They may have a copy of the receipt or reference code.
I guess Very want it to check the weight of the package you returned. That would indicate whether it contained the four items you say it did.
CollectPlus will bill Very for delivery of your parcel. Very could probably find the information they require in their own system if they really wanted to.0 -
We use collect+ for sending work parcels. All of it IT equipment.
One of the shops we had to stop using as our contents, kept going missing as you have said. Laptops turning up taken out of boxes, monitors the same and also phones. You could see the packages resealed as we had our end users send photos.
We even went as far as checking our own CCTV and the End users CCTV to see where it was going missing.
All has been well since we changed drop off points.0
