Help! Gym membership screw up?

Hey all x

I joined a gym this evening, and was a great deal. The guy however was a bit grey, and I got home and am now sick with anxiety.

He said he'd do me the off peak cost, as I was kind of off peak (which I've since seen I'm not able to do these hours if enforced).

The thing I signed I could only see was about payment to gym, ie direct debit, and the other side a medical form.

I don't know what to do as I haven't got a copy, and now I'm worried I won't be able to use it. I feel so stupid as I didn't ask enough questions.

Can anyone help? This is a gym that's in a shack and not one of the big glossy ones.

There was also nothing in writing about how much I'd be paying etc. Or cancellation terms etc. Is this right?

Do you think I'll be able to get out of this, or atleast confirm I can use the gym at the same time I did tonight which he was aware of?

Please help

Give them a call and ask for a copy of the paperwork?

Or pop back in tomorrow and ask in person.

Nothing you can do overnight that worrying will help with (i am a 1st class worrier and recently attended a managing anxiety course to learn coping skills - thinking about my worries different was one of them)

Bank it until the morning and pick it up again then :)

If your concerned about the banking side, call your bank and ask them to suspend the DD application until you have received a copy. They may not be able to but its unlikely the company have even put the DD request in yet if you only went there earlier.

Thank you sweet pea x yes, I'm in your club, have had cbt before, anxiety is just awful.

I will go in first thing tomorrow and say I'm concerned about the off peak as he was so fuzzy describing it. I feel so so stupid.

Does anyone know by law if they should give you a copy of what you've signed? And the fact there was no confirmation of fees and membership type?

    Thank you all xxx
  • You should have been provided with a copy of your contract which should include costs, how much notice you have to give to cancel, if there's a minimum term etc. Hopefully popping back in can clear this up for you.

Thank you, I popped in and he cleared it up,and wrote on the paperwork that I would do peak. There was nothing they provided me so am hoping I will get something in the post. But have the answers. I will kick off such a stink and will argue to hell if anything comes of it.

    Thank you,

    Tam
