    Thanks for all the replies I appreciate it, seems I was probably looking too far into things then, I'll get it insulated and the byelaw 30 kit fitted as a precaution but do appreciate the replies

    don't overpay - this is MSE after all - jackets are not expensive at the likes of toolstation and screwfix.

    make sure the pipes are lagged too. Ideally in 25mm thick climaflex or similar.

    The insulation around the tank and on top of it should be tidied up and made more secure so there are no gaps. I would consider taping the joints.

    Also I would check that there is no insulation under the tank. By not having insulation under the tank, the heat from the rooms below will help to keep the water in the tank from freezing during prolonged periods of very cold weather.
