    Out of idle curiosity I monitor my van dpf statistics. Soot, ash and stuff. If it gets close to the higher end of limits I'm looking forward to having a go at a forced regen.
    Things will get very hot apparently and parking in an open area is recommended!
    An oil/filter change afterwards might not be a bad idea?
    I've poked around underneath for a dummy run dpf change, looks easy enough.

    Not sure why you would want to "force" a regen. If you have ever been near a vehicle having one done and have one iota of mechanical empathy, they make you want to cry!

    3x types of regen as far as I am aware;
    - passive - pretty much happens in the background without you knowing
    - active - engine ticks over faster, fuel consumption drops and car goes like the clappers if you put your foot down
    - forced - done by OBD software normally, but generally a last hope solution (might clear dpf, but what caused it to be "blocked")

    Interrupted regens, cause most issues, so if you think one is happening, don't stop the engine until it has finished the cycle. On my car instant consumption goes from 0.2 up to 0.4-0.6 gls/hr on tickover, revs are higher and rear screen heater is on (although dash switch for rear screen is not illuminated.)

    I don't 'want' to but if it ever needs it.......yay, over to the VCDS and stand upwind with a fire extinguisher. :)
    Funnily, i've been pondering a small Caddy sized van to facilitate a side project i'm going to work on. I havent seen much movement yet, but in theory markets like pickups and vans are likely to be hit by the upcoming downturn.
    Would be interesting to hear if anyone has direct experience?

    Why? So you can argue with them?

    Take it for a drive instead. Forced regen sitting idle making a racket and stinking the place out. Risk of melting the tarmac and what else is it heating up? At least when your driving some cooler air will flow.
