Boost energy and npower

In March 2015 I moved into a new property which was supplied by npower for gas and electric. I decided to switch to ovo energy as I wanted smart PAYG meters. Ovo energy then switched all PAYG customers to boost power.
Six weeks ago I had a investigator at my door from npower claiming the switch never went through.
After a very stressful phone call to boost power it was confirmed that only the gas switched over and the electricity did not.
We’re I am now is both company’s blaming each other. N power have put n power meters back in on electricity.
Now I’ve got proof of all payments made to boost power and it totals £3549.
My questions are:
Am I entitled to back billing?
Who receives the excess money?
Also boost power are offering £150 compensation is this reasonable?

Any information much appreciated

Why did you allow matters to progress to the stage that an investigator needed to call at your home?

I suggest you accept the £150 offered, as it will offset the cost of the investigator calling.

You will need to pay for the energy supplied by each supplier.
If you have overpaid, you can request a refund (or reduction in monthly payment)
  • What do you mean why did I let it get to a investigater? I was topping up to boost power for nearly 4 years with no knowledge of the supplier still been npower, I don’t see how this was my fault?

Obtain a copy of all gas and electricity bills issued first of all.

Calculate from this how much Boost have correctly billed you for gas supplied. Deduct that figure from the £3549 you have paid them and you will have the electricity "over payment" figure.

Presumably Npower issued a bill for the electricity they have apparently supplied? Calculate the difference in what Npowers demand is and the figure to be refunded from payments made in error to Boost. If that difference is more than £150 try putting it to Boost and requesting a higher compensation (you would not owe Npower more if they had not made a mistake & can therefore argue that you should be left in the same position you would have been in had they handled transfer matters correctly).

If £150 already covers it accept. Either way request the overpayment balance (plus your compensation if resolved at £150) be refunded to you by return.

On receipt (assuming that they do indeed make a prompt refund of course) pay that money over to Npower
