My savings account went dormant with FD, I guess it was unused for 2 years and they closed it, I didn't want it anyway.
I can't pay-in £1000 per month but avoid the fee by holding their credit card, we have two 1st accounts and one joint account only the joint account gets funded regularly. I just make sure I use the credit card once in 12 months, that way they won't close it.0 -

.
Did you have any money in it when they wanted to close it?
I have a pound in mine just to ensure I don't have to pay the monthly £1000 on the Current Account.0 -

Zero balance.
I had two savings accounts, still got one it's got 5p in there and I never use it, it's an account they used to pay in to when the regular saver finished. I'm sure they will ask if I'm using it soon. All you have to do is put a minimal amount in it, then take it out again leaving the say £1 and it's active. Same with their credit card, use it once in 12 months just to keep it as a "product" of theirs to save paying the fee.0 -
I'm also assuming that as it's fee-free for the first six months, I could open it and not make a deposit for a few months?0

It'd be rather foolish not to make allowance for a plan B though. For example, if you fund each month then lose your job/hit hard times between months 7-12 then as well as withdrawing the current regular saver balance you could also bag the leaving present (which would go some way to compensate for the failure to get the 5% regular saver interest).0 -

I have money elsewhere, don't worry. And there's no chance of me losing my job.
I'm simply saying if I don't need to transfer £1000 a month in each month for the first six months, then I don't have to? Then after six months it's either £1000 a month, average balance of £1000, or hold another product, to avoid the fee. Until then, it's fee-free, therefore those three conditions do not apply?
I'm just asking a simple question, I don't see why it's getting so digressed. I have other current accounts, I'd only be switching a donor account to FD for the regular saver.0 -

Seriously, some people on here are only interested in a slinging match. It you haven't got anything constructive to say related to the topic, why bother posting. You only make yourself look stupid.0 -
