So I've put £600 in the overpayment pot this month taking me a touch below £72000.
Work is falling pretty flat with an overall assessment programme happening at my employer, cant wait for the holiday to come.

Well its an awfully long time since I last posted and a LOT has happened.
I tried to sell my flat and due to the outstanding section 21 for major works on the leasehold I couldn't. :-(
So temporarily I have re-mortgaged and become a landlord with a view to sell within 3 years to enable me to reclaim the second home stamp duty I paid on my new property, something I could afford thanks to the surprise money I received from the Prudential from my deceased Dads pension.
And I bought a new house with a whopping £280k mortgage! which I am overpaying by £200 a month at the moment whilst renovating it. My aim is to pay it off by the time I am 50! god know how but that's what I would like its just the plan now...so back to the diary to help!

Thanks, I have been a landlord before and to be honest its not something I enjoy neither practically or morally. However I hand selected a tenant and am charging much less than market rate and it all seems to be going well so far, I also made them aware from the start I would be looking to sell within 24 months so fingers crossed it works out ok.savingholmes said:Congratulations. I went to Aldi last night and managed to bag some great bargains at 75% off so the freezer is stocked for the week. :-)Aug 24 - Mortgage Balance £242,040.19

            Hi All,
I have been taking a couple of weeks off for a bit of R&R. Bit of a tricky time atm as my partner lost his job unexpectedly and had surgery from which is will take a couple of months to recover, this means for now I am without his contribution both practically and financially on the house front. However we soldier on and hopefully it will resolve itself soon enough.
On a more positive note I had the ceilings skimmed by a local apprentice plasterer last week and they are looking really good for a total of £400 for 3 rooms

Hope you are feeling better. Sounds a tough time - particularly so soon after moving. Plasterer sounds positive.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

well the partner started a new job yesterday, the pay isn't great and hes over qualified for it and hates it already, its temp to perm but I cant see him taking it perm but it will keep the bills paid for a couple of months, he still isn't totally over his surgery so he can't do loads yet anyway.
