Universal credit claim help

Hi everyone,
So myself and one of my friends signed a housing agreement as a couple, although we aren't one as we were both on the edge of having no where to stay. I was working on a temporary contract which ended last month and am currently looking for employment again. I have two questions related to the universal credit application. Is there any way for me to proceed as a single claimant even though we are on a joint tenancy and it's under my friend's name? Secondly, would my landlord find out if a claim was made?
Thank you

If you are not part of a couple, as your friend is not your partner, then yes you make a single UC claim. Under the housing section, you enter that the tenancy agreement is in 2 names. You will then only receive 50% of the housing, as your friend will pay the other 50% to the landlord.
Your landlord won't find out unless you get into arrears and they find out from you during the process of trying to gain payment. The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0 -

Does the tenancy agreement state you are a couple as it will need to be seen by a Work Coach to verify housing costs and if it does could cause issues when you state I am single on your claim.0
