Complete new Key

Good evening
I have purchased a car and it only had 1 key.
I was wanting to get another one and didn't know the best place to go.
I don't have alot of money but understand it will need programming etc.
Its a 2011 seat leon.
Anyone else got one for a decent price?
Regards

  • I normally buy cars from the Auction and they often only ever come with one key.

The problem is the keys these days can cost hundreds of pounds.

I never bother buying anther key, but if you really want one I would suggest maybe looking on eBay for a shell an getting it programmed.

Or maybe speak to a indi key retailer.

NEVER go to the dealer for a replacement unless you drive a 200K car :)

Timpsons offer a good key service, but they're not cheap. Do ask your Seat dealer (via phone) for a price, just in case they are reasonable.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

Most Timpsons only clone keys though. The missing key can still be used to start the car.

Ideally you want to remove the missing key and add a proper 2nd key not a cloned one.

I've used a local guy with good reviews who I found online which ended up 1/2 the dealer price - still £100+ for a Citroen key though, but better than having the other fail and having no keys!. As mentioned, the missing key(s) will still be linked to the car, but you can weigh up the odds of that old key still being in circulation and the key holder tracking down the new owner as probably very slim
