MBNA Late charges on an arrangement plan and a default

Hi,
I was wondering if you could help me with this issue...
In 2013 I had a credit card with MBNA. I was making the agreed monthly payments.
At some point I was in financial hardship and could no longer keep the agreed payments. I then contacted MBNA and they set up an arrangement plan and froze all interest and charges for me.
A year later I stopped getting my statements from MBNA.
I contacted them and they advised me that the account was now with LINK finance. They had sold on my debt to Link.
I have a couple of questions:
1. I have complained about the fact that no notice was given to me. If I had known I would have tried to do everything in my power to avoid the default on my account.
MBNA claimed that they had sent out a letter with the notice- how can I prove that I did not receive it? Surely such important letters that could have a huge impact on your future, must be sent out by special/ recorded delivery?...
2. Some of the payments on my credit file were showing as late, however I always made the agreed payments outside the original contract on time- did they report my payments incorrectly?
I would appreciate your help in this matter.
Kind regards,

No, defaults don't have to be sent out recorded delivery.
If the payments were not the contractual amount, then it's correct that they are marked as late, or as an arrangement.0 -
