It will function like BBC iPlayer Radio with respect to previously-broadcast programmes.
If, for instance, you had missed Johnnie Walker on Sunday afternoon, you can;
"Alexa, ask the BBC to play Johnnie Walker"
and it will play the most recent edition of the show. Want to hear the previous week?
"Alexa, previous"
Works for any BBC show that I've tried, and for BBC podcasts, too.
Functions like a spoken google search;
"Alexa, convert 20 kilometres into miles"
etc

have a look in you tube at a guy called Paul Hilbert .0

I've bought some smart plugs which controls lamps and the TV, and you can set up routines so Alexa'll do multiple things at once. I like that a lot. In a few months, after I've moved, I'll look into smart bulbs and thermostat control.
I use Alexa a lot to set timers, and I've got it connected to my google calendar, so she can tell me what I'm supposed to do today.
Otherwise music, podcasts, radio stations, weather, occasional answering questions (e.g. "Alexa, what time does Tesco open?" - moderate success with random questions), sometimes reminders/alarms. I want to look into adding the TED talk skill, see how that works.
I unthinkingly said "thank you" to her the other day, and as I was muttering to myself about how it's a computer and what was I thinking, she replied with "my pleasure". Oh dear.
Edited to add: if you're on facebook, there are some groups where people post questions etc, they're a good source of info. Just search for something like Alexa or Amazon Alexa. Stick to the UK groups though as they often roll functionality out in the USA months before it comes to the UK.0 -
Thanks both
I have joined the facebook groups and already found out i can put a dot in my bathroom by replacing a spot light for a dot :beer::beer:Hi there! We’ve had to remove your signature.
