Do most tablets slow down over time?

OP - have you tried clearing the cache on your HD8? It can make a massive difference to speed.
To do so just hold the power & volume down buttons until the tablet reboots & you get a list of options appear.
Use the volume buttons to highlight "wipe cache partition" & press the power button to do so. Then check that "reboot system now" is highlighted & press the power button.
Another, more technical, option to speed the HD8 up is to disable some of the system apps - google "xdadevelopers disable system apps on Fire HD 7/8/10" for info on this.
If you're using Launcher Hijack to enable you to replace the default Amazon launcher then be careful which replacement launcher you use - I've found that some can slow it down big time (currently using Nova Launcher which is ok).0 -
Short answers
Android = yes
iPad = no
This is because how the operating systems are designed. The iOS uses a sandbox system where every app is allocated a container. If you delete the app, everything that app has created is deleted.
But Android is like Windows. You can delete an app but it can still keep clutters around your "registry" equivalent in Android.
However, you can recover all these wasted space using 3rd party apps. So, Android tablets are like cars which require servicing.
iPad can also slow down but that's mostly due to newer apps putting more load on its hardware. This is why upgrading to latest OS/apps is not always a good idea.Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.0 -
