Amoma.com & Cancelon for hotels - trustworthy?

Hi, I am looking for a specific hotel via Trivago, several deals came up and I decided to book through amoma.com. I was ready to pay but the site declined my payment, my mobile phone was ringing and it turned out to be amoma. They said they actually had a special offer which is £20 cheaper (for the same dates/room types/ and cancellation policy), straight after they sent me an email booking link with the lower price which would be only valid for one hour. It seems a bit strange when a company would decline a payment when the customer was already to pay a higher price.

About 30 minutes later, amoma called again and asked if I received the email link because they haven't received my booking/payment. The first time they called I got suspicious, the second time it just seemed pushy. Am I over worrying? My partner reckons it might be a scam.

On Trivago, the other webite came up with the same price as Amoma is Cancelon. It's a website resells cancelled hotel rooms, how legit and reliable is it? Other popular booking sites (booking.com/expedia are at least £100 more for the whole duration).

Would love to hear other's experience with Amoma.com or Cancelon.

Thanks.

No, i have used Amoma before on a number of occasions without any issues. I think they send the link so that they dont have to pay the trivago fees. Out of interest what hotel is it, and what dates?

Yes, ive booked direct before, going through topcashback but recently if i am looking they call up and offer a discount. Again, use a credit card so are you covered under s75.
If you provide some more details re hotel and dates people may find better prices for you

Looking to stay in Regel Riverside Hotel, Hong Kong, check in on 21 March 2019, check out on 1 April for 11 nights. Cancelin's price £649 inc all tax and fees. Amoma was same price through Trivago this afternoon (now price has changed), they offered me £620 on the phone if I paid within one hour. Didn't book as I got suspicious.

What i do whenever I book through an agent is email the hotel after i have done it and ask them to confirm my booking. Failing that if you book direct with the hotel the total price is £30 more but does include free round trip from the airport, plus if you sign up to the regal members club they may offer a lower price.

Other option is email them direct with the links to cheaper prices and ask if they will price match

Thanks newuser86. Yes I have looked at booked with Regal direct, the price showed on their site excludes 10% tax, so the final price will be around £760-nish. The airport bus to hotel only cost about £2.30 each way so not bother about taking the hotel shuttle.

Ah apologies I didn't go through to check. I have never been let down by amoma although I know some people have had issues. Just pay with a credit card so you are covered and email the hotel for confirmation of the room beforehand so you dont get any nasty surprises.
