First time buyer anxiety

Hi,
I'm in the process of buying my 1st home, early days but my offer was accepted on Friday.
Now all I've done since is panic! It sounds daft but it's around 30 minutes from where I currently live (I can't afford to buy round here) and will be a 35 min commute to work.
Did anyone else start to feel like this when they bought their home or moved house?

Yes, it's all natural, you are in the process of one of the most stressful periods of your life.0

Thank you. I just keep panicking that I've made the wrong choice! Thinking the worst and the commute is going to be annoying but it's an area we could afford to buy in.0

If this weekends offer gets accepted im right there with you. 30 mins commute to work, no pub within walking distance
hmmm....thinking about it why am i trying lol? Good luck with it An answer isn't spam just because you don't like it......0 -
35 mins is a very reasonable commute.
How will you be doing it?
If you think it will be bad could you shift your hours? Sometimes it actually suits a business for people to do this so you never know.
If you are travelling by public transport could you make use of the time?
Reading? Meditating? Or even doing a few exercises? Admin? Email?
You could also consider working from home if that suits your job.
Personally I don’t like it much, but lots of people use it as a way of commuting less.0 -
My commute is 70 minutes and many of my shifts are 13hrs long, you will be fine! Get downloading some podcasts.0

Thank you everyone! I think, which sounds ridiculous, I am trying to find things wrong! Just feeling anxious.
Luckily I drive so I've got that as a bonus.0 -
I had a bit of a wobble after we had our offer accepted in October. We were looking at two very different locations geographically though and I still wonder to some extent whether we've gone for the right one. But the house ticks all the boxes, we love the feel of the area and we wouldn't have been able to afford that in the other location.
I think it's totally normal, probably more so with a first house

I used to do 60 mins each way commute. M3 and A303. If I left early enough the roads were clear and I used to find it relaxing and actually enjoyed it. I second getting podcasts/banging tunes.0

35 minutes is an absolutely fine commute. You'll get used to it in no time.
A lot of people commute for well over an hour, sometimes closer to 2 hours each way.
A little bit of anxiety is perfectly normal. Everyone worries about whether they have chosen the right house or are doing the right thing.
Don't worry about it, try not to seek perfection, everyone has to compromise on something. In no time you will find things you "love" about your new house that you would not have noticed before!0 -
I’m right there with you! Makes me feel a bit better to know other FTBs feel the same. We are buying a new build from a small local developer in a small village where we could afford more than the nearest town. My commute will be 35-37 min each way. I keep worrying if it’s the right choice, but we couldn’t afford as much closer to where I work. We’ve paid a reservation fee, a mortgage fee, and solicitors fees- already about £2300 in, but not exchanged contracts and my anxious side keeps telling me we can just pull out! I also worry something I like better will come up in Spring, as we didn’t start viewing houses until the end of summer when maybe the market was les busy.
I guess accepting that there will always be what ifs and doubts makes it easier to just do it!0
