O/S Daily Sunday 6th January 2019

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

    Good morning all

Hope you are all having a nice quiet start to the day

Yesterday we visited mother as planned. No change, she did manage to complain her tea was cold, but other than that didn't talk. I drank my cup of tea, looked at my magazine, and chatted to DH.
Soup turned out really well, if I do say myself, and was very welcome when we got home, it was so cold.

Thinking of Holly, taff, poppy, dumpling and all those finding life difficult

Morning everyone and thanks for the start SO.

Not a great deal planned for today, the tree and decs need to come down so the hoover will be out as well but that’s about it. I had to wait for over an hour yesterday for my hay man to arrive so busied myself cleaning tack etc, Lu supervised whilst munching on yet more hay. By the time I had stacked all 20 bales away I was sneezing like anything, never remember to take my antihistamines :o
Have a good day folks, hugs to all poorlies or those caring for loved ones x

A shocking nights sleep for me, at least I'll be tired tonight! I have to go back to work tomorrow, actually looking forward to it, I need a bit of structure to my day!

I made soup and hummus yesterday ready for the week ahead's lunches. Also bought some clothes in a sale yesterday for the DGC, may be a bit big but they'll fit them soon - I do like a bargain!

Hugs to those not doing so well, hope today is better for you. Take care. XX
  • Morning folks and thanks SILVER-OLDIE. Sorry your mum was in silent mode yesterday. I had this when caring for my mother. Her lips would be clenched tight shut and I had to guess what I had done to upset her.

I slept in this morning. Instead of the usual 3.00 am I managed to sleep till 3.30 am. Felt tired but still couldn't get back to sleep.

No fixed plans for today. Soup stocks in the freezer are going down so I might make a pan of pea and ham as I haven't made any of that for a while.

An Age UK bag was shoved through the letterbox yesterday so if I cba going through my clothes later I'll try to be ruthless and get rid of some stuff.

Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need/want of them xxx

    Good morning,

I had a lie in this morning by the simple expedient of telling the HT to get lost when he tried to wake me at 7 am. I've been very tired the last couple of days and needed a bit of a catch up.

Today's plans involve a roast chicken dinner, some knitting and lots of sitting down. I have one hat to sew up and that needs a bobble on top and I've started another hat for my friend who was in hospital (but is now home in her own bed). Just a hat for me to do after this, one for the HT if he wants one and a spare for my bestie. I'll be chanting the pattern in my sleep.....

Take care all of you :)

    Morning all.

Lainey - 20 bales, :o what an effort!

It's very grey and damp here, think the weather is gearing up for the heavy rain forecasted for tomorrow.

Camelot - I'm not so keen on the return to work though I feel better for my refreshing weekend. There's a few outstanding jobs to be done before tomorrow. I'm the worlds best procrastinator.

Yesterday I took some meat out of the freezer, strips of belly pork and some liver (seems to be a theme). Perhaps they'll be too freezer burnt to be used, I hope not.

DM has survived a Gers free weekend so far. There was a slight moment of crisis when the friend who was buying the paper rang to tell me that there weren't any left. Luckily she had been looking in the wrong place! No Saturday Times crossword would have been a 'disaster' even though I had contingency plans in place. :rotfl:

All my app controlled things are now reconnected- what a faff. They make life a tiny bit easier so it's worth it. Fingers crossed for no more broken broadband.

Time for breakfast - eggs I think. I wish everyone a happy Sunday.

It's back to normal here. Stop laughing at the back ! Well as normal as it can be for us :rotfl:
All the decs and tree are down and put away. Now that's a miracle in itself . The house is reasonably tidy and clean, but I'm itching to do a spring clean now ! I think I must have a temperature :rotfl:. I also received a cs bag this morning and I want to fill it if I can.

I will need to make a list of all the DIY jobs that will need attention this year, including quite a bit of painting . I like painting but don't like the paying for the price of paint, it seems to have shot up again .

Anyway today Dad is coming over for lunch and we will have roast pork, roast potatoes, broccoli and some broad beans just for Dad. I can't stand dark green cabbage or broad beans _pale_. There are some bendy carrots and parsnips in the fridge which I will try to revive, if not they will be chopped up ready for a casserole. There are also a few sad apples in the fruit bowl so they are earmarked for apple sauce.
Tea will be eating up some of the Christmas stuff, cake and mince pies. Oh and there's always the remainder of the leftover cheese and biscuits and a few sausage rolls which I found lurking in the freezer.

Thinking of Holly, Poppy, Taff and Dumpling and anyone else who is poorly, sad, worried, sleepless or just plain fed up.
Take care and hugs to all

Dumpling sorry to hear you have been unwell, please take it easy and get better soon xx

Taff hope you are ok ? sending hugs xx

The new TD has arrived and is very good indeed :T it uses 1/3 of the electricity of the old one so is a lot more economical and we went out yesterday and left it on !! I was a bit :eek:but OH assured me that is so low in electric that it would be fine, and it was !!
Nels yes bring your washing, mind you there is a charge which can be paid in wine or gin !! best bring both in case you are here for a while ! :D

Roast pork for dinner today with all the trimmings I think I will make a big Yorkshire too so that we can have Yorkshire wraps tomorrow with the leftovers.

Got a towel wash on this morning will hang it out for a few hours then into the TD :D

    Have good days all xx
