My iPad is looking for a passcode. I think I’ve forgotten it and I’m been locked out for upto fifteen minutes
I say ‘think’ because I know the passcode on my iPhone and there is no bother there. Will the passcodes be the same or does it depend on how they were set up?
Just to be sure. The passcode on my iPhone 6s is a six figure alpha/numeric code will it be the same on an old iPad mini ?
I know Apple can be awkward but thanks for any advice you can offer

Depends on whether you set it to be four or six. You can (well certainly could) choose either.
There is a way of doing a full factory reset that involves connecting it to iTunes on a computer it has never been connected to before then booting the iPad in a particular way. That will restore it to "out of the box" condition but running the latest version of iOS that particular iPad supports.
Unless you have a light bulb moment and remember the code that will be you only option.0
