So have you had to confirm to child benefit that he is still in full time education or approved training. If so he is what is called a ‘qualifying young person’ and his income should be ignored. You should make sure local authority know he is studying.
Like you I am puzzled as to how local authority are aware if he hasn’t yet treceived any earnings.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -
the letter says reason for calculation : change in Dependants
under weekly income they have dependents income £77.77 which is the same as his DLA. I thought that shouldn't even be counted. until I phone them I don't know what it is0 -

DLA should definitely be ignored - having said that I can’t see how any award of DLA would result in a figure of £77.77/ week.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -
he gets 310 every 4 weeks which is 79 a week, which is why I thought it might be that. I don't even know what change in Dependants is as nothing has really changed except the pt job and he only got issued the cheque this Friday and this letter is dated 31st December which is before that0

turns out they had counted my other son's DLA into my income. he couldn't tell me why it had been added, but has pit it back to the assessors to look at again0

since they took assessors away from the local council I have had so many errors, one where they had underpaid me nearly £2000. I have at least 2 a year which I can normally figure out. how many other mistakes jave they made where people don't realise and they are underpaid0

Or overpaid and then required to pay it back. In your case it looks like it will get sorted but it has caused you unnecessary anxiety.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0
