Offer to DCA Solicitors?

Hi All
Please can someone help me?
I told my DCA solicitors I'd try to come up with an offer to clear my debt on Monday - the amount is over £6k and the alternative is a CCJ. They've sent a County Court Claim already.
They won't accept monthly installments, so I think my only option is get a loan, but I won't be lent much and I can't afford large monthly amounts.
They already said they'd accept £5.5k but I can't see any way of coming up with close to that.
I've heard they buy debts for small amounts. Can anyone estimate what is the lowest they might accept? If I offer £2k would they just cut me dead?
Thanks in advance. If I get a CCJ I'll probably lose my job, so I'd be very grateful for any help.

I guess this is in connection with the debt in this thread?

Do not get a loan, these people think they have you over a barrel, by refusing to accept monthly payments, this kind of thing is against FCA guidelines.
Time to turn the tables somewhat, if you get a CCJ, you may lose your job, and they will get no money, have you told them that ?
As for the statute barred argument in your other thread, only payment by the debtor or there agent acting on their behalf, counts towards the limitations clock.
What job do you do, ?

Yes. I temp for a bank. Every time a new contract starts they credit check everyone, and there’s no way to know when that will be. Others have fallen foul of it.
I must admit I’ve given up on the statute barred thing. I can’t risk going to court with it.
I’d be interested in knowing more about the FCA guidelines about accepting monthly payments though? They were quite adamant they’d go to court rather than accept monthly payments.0 -

This exactly why you should never speak to these people on the phone.

The 2 weeks to acknowledge the court papers is up today, so I went online to acknowledge and said I intend to defend the whole claim.
(I was more hopeful about the statute barred thing then.)
I felt writing to the solicitors would be too slow to beat the CCJ.0 -
To gain some time here, this is what you should do.
Send a CCA request to them, info here :
https://legalbeagles.info/library/guides_and_letters/court/cca-request-letter-example/
And also send a CPR 31.14 Request for inspection of documents.
again info here :

inability to provide either will result in the case becoming stayed.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. The more legal arguments you can pursue against them the better, remember its up to them to prove the debt is not statute barred, not up to you to prove it is, entering this as a part of your defense cant hurt.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Wow, thanks! I'm constantly amazed at how little I know :rotfl:sourcrates wrote: »To gain some time here, this is what you should do.

They mention the "Agreement" on the claim form, so I'll ask for that on the CPR 31.14. Is this the same as the document on the CCA letter? Should I merge the two letters into one?
I've had a good rummage and they only sent statements last time I asked for documents.
I really appreciate you helping me in your spare time! :T0 -

I directed you to legalbeagles and their resources on 26 Dec. Di also made some suggestions on the same day.0 -
Sorry fatbelly. I think I panicked and rang them as my 2 weeks was coming to an end. Sorry to Di too.
