Bad condensation and mould in bathroom!

Thank you for your replies, very grateful. I open the windows in the property every single day for at least 30-1hr. I would leave them open more but I have a one year old so don’t want him getting cold. The fan does not lead to the outside of the building, behind the fan is a storage cupboard. When we first moved in we didn’t have a problem with any mould or Condensation and the walls was fine for the first couple of months so not sure what changed. A new extractor fan was put in only
Last month because I rung up my housing association and informed them of the mould. I have a plumber coming tomorrow because they want to check that there’s not a leak under the bath. When I get out the bath/shower if I leave the door closed with the extractor fan on the condensation and mould gets so much worse! If will only go away once I have opened the door and let air in. The door is a very heavy door. Do you think it could improve if I shaved a bit off the bottom of the door to let air in? I don’t have a garden so unfortunately I have to dry clothes in the house but I do it right next to a window with it open. I hope I have answered all your questions.0 -
Another thing to reduce the water in the air is to squeegy the wall tiles & shower when you get out - all that water left on the walls just has to evaporate making the air even more damp!0

So where does the fan vent to? Venting into another room is not a solution, and will make your problems worse...Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0 -
Absolutely. That would appear to be the problem. Your moist air is perhaps just being temporarily moved into a cupboard. Have you looked inside the storage cupboard? I suspect it is very damp in there, too.0

Hi, there is no damp or mould in the cupboard and it doesn’t smell damp at all. Is there any way I could attach a photo to show you? Do you think it would help if I cut a bit Off the bathroom door?0

As per pervious posters, I was going to suggest a dehumidifier.
We've got one of these (at least, it's that brand and looks identical, I don't have the model number to hand!): https://www.amazon.co.uk/EcoAir-DC12-Compact-Portable-Dehumidifier/dp/B00HT8DC7Y?ref_=Oct_RAsinC_Ajax_3593780031_7&pf_rd_r=A5QTB3T4ZJ516529SANX&pf_rd_p=9071cd32-6255-59e6-b9a7-b82f54fc04c0&pf_rd_s=merchandised-search-6&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_i=3593780031&pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE
Had it for three years now, use it in the conservatory to dry clothes overnight and it's been brilliant.MFW2023 challenge #99: £1090.11 / £1,000 MFiT-T6 (Jan 2022 - Jan 2025) challenge #99: Reduce mortgage to £400,000.
