Need to move out after my dad hit me

I am incredulous that some posters on here appear to believe that beating a child with a belt is acceptable! Appalling wherever the person lives! A word is just a word a belt leaves physical damage. My advice would be call the police and get out of that toxic environment.
I am convinced that most people who commit violence do so mainly because they have encountered it as they grow up.
I must make it clear I condemn violence in any form whatsoever.
Shame on those in here who do not.
Can I suggest you go to your mother and call her a cxxt, go up to a few people in the street and do the same. Then go into your local police station and give them all a rendition of the word. You will then see why it is one of the most offensive words in the English language.0 -
Dustin8, a quick Google showed the following advice for US minors:
You should definitely call 211. Its like 911 but with a 2 and is designed to get people in your situation in touch with basic services in their area. It functions all over the country except some parts or North and South Dakota. Another good idea is goin get to be to call the National Runway Safeline at 1–800–786–2929 and can also text them at 66008. Their website 1800RUNAWAY .org is generally helpfully Of course, you may not be in that situation, but it's useful if you are. The site "homeless youth handbook" may also be helpful.0 -
I hope you're ok, sounds like a terrible experience. I do think that you should let the dust settle and think about what your options are. At the moment they seem limited.
Despite what has happened do you think you can keep the peace so you can carry on with your studies? Has your dad been violent to you previously? If he hasn't, while completely unacceptable behaviour, it may be in your best interests to just get the interactions back to where they usually are and carry on, rather than go down the route of homelessness. Once on that path it is so much harder to get on an even keel.
I wish you all the bestDF as at 30/12/16

sorry i'm located in the us. didn't realize this was only for people in the uk.
We're not, but it does make it more difficult for us to advise appropriately as we tend to know more about support for those in the UK.
However - given the wide spread of the internet - I am puzzled why you would choose to join and post on a Money Saving forum in the Debt Free Wannabee board?:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

I agree its offensive but its still only a word. A physical beating is not the correct response. It just makes people angry and vengeful. We all say things in temper! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
