credit rating question

Options
Advise needed. We bought a car from a relative and sent off the relevant info to transfer into our name. Just had a call to say the relative has had a parking fine but the parking company have had to use a credit reference agency to get their new address as dvla still has them as the owner and they have moved. Therefore dvla gave her old address. I have told them that we will speak to dvla first thing in the morning and pay the fine in the morning and also advise them we are the owners. However they are majorly panicking over how this will effect their credit rating, which I totally understand. Can anyone please advise what effect this will have on their credit rating? It is currently very good and I really hope this hasn't caused any problems for them.

Instead of panicking they should just get the parking fine paid.

As fpr the credit score it isnt seen by anyone else but the user eg the relative, lenders see the credit history. I cant say if it would show up on the credit report but google should provide an answer.
  • It will only affect their credit HISTORY if it doesn’t get paid and the parking company go for a CCJ

They have no credit rating to worry about - no one does
  • we paid fine as soon as we became aware. The relative is very cross with us that it has happened and is adamant that it will effect them negatively and I don't know how to let them know any different. The fine has not even been increased.
  • It won’t affect them at all

Parking companies do not report to credit agencies, only if it got to the CCJ stage

Really next time read the parking sub forum on how to beat parking tickets instead of paying these sharks.

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
