Electrical problem

Never had this before but my tail light is off and I presumed it was the bulb. Then I discovered that the reversing light, fog light and brake light are out as well on the same side. Any ideas where to look? The indicators are working OK.

Check the connection to the cluster's good.
What car? Something modern and multiplexed?
Have you got a towbar fitted?

Earth connection is likely to be common to all the bulbs within a cluster.

It's an 09 Auris. Will the earth point be near the light cluster? No tow bar. The back of the cluster is pretty inaccessible even with the interior panels removed.

It looks like one fuse covers all the rear lights, so I have ruled that out.

The earth point is usually a bolt which attaches to the body of the car. They use the body of the car as the return line.

It can be the bolt which holds the light onto the car or a wire from the loom which almost immediately comes out from the loom and attaches to the car.

A check is to get a bit of wire and run a wire back to the engine or some other big metal object (ie engine, chassis etc)
