Hello, not sure if I am positing in the correct place,
But my question is I paid £500 on my credit card deposit for a wedding in August 2019...
Turns out we are not going to get married there is there anyway I can get that £500 back?
Would really appreciate any help
Thanks

Have you asked the company for the deposit back?
What were the terms of the contract at the time when you paid the deposit?0 -
Nobody here can answer this question; you'll need to read the Terms & Conditions you signed when making your booking and paying your deposit.
Deposits are taken to cover the eventually of a booking falling through and the venue having to try to secure another wedding on that day, so I'd say it's very unlikely you'd get the whole amount refunded. What does the contract you signed say about cancellation rights?0 -
The sooner you contact them, the more chance there is of you getting the money back, as it gives them more chance of re-selling the date. You may still not get it back - but worth a try.
There may also be some wriggle room on the part of the venue depending on your reasons for not getting married. No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...0 -
OP doesn't say that they're no longer getting married, only that they're not getting married there.trailingspouse wrote: »There may also be some wriggle room on the part of the venue depending on your reasons for not getting married.I paid £500 on my credit card deposit for a wedding in August 2019...

I read that as they'd changed their minds about the venue.Everything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endQuidquid Latine dictum sit altum videtur0 -
Wedding insurance?
Is the deposit non refundable?
Do you have a copy of the contract ?Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -
Yes, I read it that way too, but it could be read that, for whatever reason, they're not getting married - so I thought it was worth covering all the bases.jackieblack wrote: »OP doesn't say that they're no longer getting married, only that they're not getting married there.

I didn't get my £1000 deposit back. They claimed that they had spent a thousand pounds and that is what it covered.
BS.... but there we go.0 -
It'll all be in the T&C's, but it is sort of what the point of deposits are.
Depends on the reason too, are you no longer getting married there because they have breached their side of the contract?0
