FirstDirect: Claiming Incentive after removing my name from joint account?

Options
I am a FirstDirect customer and have previously claimed the £125 incentive.

My wife and I have a joint bank account with Halifax... If I removed my name from the account, would my wife then be able to switch the account to FirstDirect and claim the £125 incentive?

If your wife has never held an account at FD (either sole or joint), then she would qualify. Why doesn't she just open a new account to switch to FD?
  • She has a Rewards card with Halifax that she wants to keep.

...So if I remove my name from the joint account we want are going to switch, will FirstDirect have no knowledge that my name was previously attached to the account?
  • Switching also closes the account you're moving from

So she would lose the Rewards Card - no?

Opening a new account for the purposes of switching it to FD would not put her existing "Rewards card" under threat.

Converting a joint account to a sole account and then switching the sole account would not disqualify her from the incentive.

Perhaps you could be more specific about which sole/joint accounts she currently holds and which she wants to retain.

What OP has suggested is that she just opens another account with Halifax ( a donor account)and switches that, then she still has her reward (plus FD goodies)
IMHO It should be quite easy to open a new account at Halifax in her own name.
