I'm looking to use the switch incentive offer from another bank (say HSBC), but wish to keep my old account open. In order to use CASS, will it work to open another random current account (say HBOS), switch 2 of my DDs and my salary to the HBOS one and instruct HSBC to close that account through CASS rather than my current one?

Yes
Providing you can open 2 accounts in the short space of time0 -
Subject to your applications being successful, you can do this.
I believe you don't need any DDs for the current HSBC switch offer but if you believe you do, you should wait until they have been paid once. Otherwise they might not be considered active DDs. In any case, read those offer T&Cs before you commit :cool:0 -
Thanks both. Will give it a crack.0

I wouldn't switch your salary to the temporary account, there's a (probably small) risk that it could be delayed during the switch and you're left with no money. If you want your salary to go to the final account then organise it with your employer after the account is fully open.0

A good point! Yes I'll do it that way. I'll report back on my success/failure...0
