Travel insurance for delay

I have recently been on a long haul trip where the flight was delayed by 12 hours which resulted in missing the connecting flight, and having to catch 1 the next day, which also resulted in losing 1 night in a hotel in the destination
The airline has agreed to the 600euros, but don't really know where I stand with the travel insurance coverwise (axa).
1. Can I claim for the delay?
2. Can I claim for the paid 1 night lost in the hotel at my destination?

the airline compensation does not preclude you from claiming with your insurer - you would need to read your policy document to see what the coverage is0
