Visa Offers (First Direct)

Has anybody used Visa Offers?

https://firstdirect.visaoffers.eu/

What kind of offers are they? Can you give some examples?

For most purchases I've found that my employer's discount site normally offers the same or better (and can be used with a cashback credit card rather than first direct debit card).

You have nothing to lose by signing up though and I think it should be possible to combine these with Top Cashback etc.

Thanks. It doesn't really seem worth it. I was hoping they would have supermarket offers. These offers seem like the kind of thing that will make me spend money rather than save money.

I am signed up to Visa offers for 3 different banks - First Direct, HSBC & Nationwide. The offers are usually very similar, sometimes with differing end dates, or an offer appearing on one a month or two after it was on the others.

In general they are not particularly good as you have surmised, but once in a while there's something that doesn't entice to me spend what I wouldn't have anyway - I've had 6 (I think) lots of £5 back on £40 of petrol at BP, and a couple of £5 back on £25 from Iceland. I also used to travel a lot in my last job hence I could make the use of the hotel offers - Hilton crops up quite regularly.

I've had supermarket offers from the Co-op. I think it was 5% or 10% off if you spent over £10, something like that. As the Co-op is more expensive than other supermarkets, it was only useful if you already shop at the Co-op.

Cashback offers from Lloyds regularly include discounts at Waitrose.

Co-op offer also works when paying paypoint so I've had 10% off my council tax :-)
