If I were you I'd go into a store to 'try out' a few laptops. Computer specs look good on a website, but sometimes the feel of the laptop isn't what you want. the keyboard may not feel right for you or the trackpad.

The one you had looks like a good spec. It has a SSD, which runs faster than a traditional hard drive, but the storage isn't as large as you'd get with a HDD. RAM and processor are decent.

It's good that it has multiple USB3 ports and a newer USB-C port as well as a HDMI port.

Looks like quite good value for what you get.

thanks! fat fingers, small phone keyboard, and was just call in to see the nurse, so was a post it now or it gets lost situation.

Personally I was not going to change it, was going to let the spelling and grammar Nazis have something to get pleasure from :D

The laptop will generally go no further than my front room so I don't mind a larger one. Any suggestions?.
How about a second hand Dell desktop? Much cheaper, larger screen, often a better keyboard and will probably last longer.

I couldn’t agree more, I recently bought a secondhand Dell i7, 16GB RAM, SSD equipped ex business desktop. It runs like greased lightning and boots up in a few seconds. Beware that if you need a DVD writer, many ex business desktops (and most thin laptops) don’t include one. However, an external USB DVD writer is only about £12 on eBay.
