I have a first direct account that I don't use. How can I get the £125 for switching? Can I close it and reopen it switching or can i get the reward by switching the one I already have?

If you already have a First Direct account, or have ever held one before, you cannot get any bonus from them for switching. It's strictly brand new, first time, customers only, and there's no way around it.

and unlike some banks which specify dates for offers eg you will not qualify for this reward if you had a switch bonus since 20XX, First Direct mean ever. They have exceedingly long memories!!Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!
