Hi everyone , we have a 4 year old son and we are receiving child tax credit for him. We just had twins and i know you can only get child tax credit for 2 children but there are exemptions, will we be able to claim for both of the twins so in total get the child tax for all 3 of our children or only two? Thanks in advance.

My reading of the guidance here is that you will get CTC for both of the twins https://www.gov.uk/guidance/child-tax-credit-exceptions-to-the-2-child-limit#multiple-birth
“Where the first child of the multiple birth is either the first or second child in the household, we’ll pay a child amount for all the children born as part of the multiple birth.
Send supporting documents to the Specialist Exceptions Team
You must send the original full birth certificate of each child born as part of the multiple birth.
Include the word ‘exception’ and your National Insurance number at the top of your letter and send it to:
Exceptions
HM Revenue and Customs
BX9 1HZ
If you’ve already sent birth certificates as part of a Child Benefit claim, you do not need to send them again.
Just provide the full names of each child, including any middle names and their dates of birth.“Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -
agreed with the above, this will fall under exemption for "child three"0
