Hi All,
Advice needed.
EDF offered to supply electricity with tarriff "easy on line renewal Nov 19 (E7)" which is a single fuel tarriff, the clue being (E7) economy 7. Signed up to this tariff in November 18. EDF have contacted me today to say as I am not dual fuel!! they are going to move me on to a more expensive single fuel tariff or (get this) supply gas - there is no gas here. EDF are changing the terms of my tariff in the tariff period. To change tariff will cost me £30.00.
Do I have a contract with them? lasting the term? would like to remain on my tariff.
Help!!!!
Mike.

[STRIKE]Easy on line is a dual fuel only tariff, clearly stated in the T&Cs. It is available to both single rate and E7 customers, dual fuel is not a bar to E7 being economical especially as we are heading towards more electric vehicles. You failed to comply with the terms so they are ending the contract as they are entitled to do, you need to look elsewhere.[/STRIKE]
edit: I would raise a complaint as although the tariff is dual fuel I see no mention that it is only available to dual fuel customers. The T&Cs are a bit vague and actually mention "if we supply you with gas" so there is a bit of uncertainty.0 -
I don't know the process which lead to you selecting this tariff, but the terms and conditions clearly state that signing up for this tariff means you agree to: have both your electricity and gas supplied by EDF Energy, and having a smart meter installed. Tariff information is published for both standard or Economy 7 meters.
So perhaps your best bet is to ask why your application wasn't rejected, and to be allowed to select a new single fuel tariff without any exit fee.0 -
The tariff information label does NOT mention anything referring to dual fuel. EDF knew it was a single fuel home - no gas supply. The tariff was offered by EDF at the end of my previous tariff.0
-
Hence my advice to raise a formal complaint. I think there is enough ambiguity in the T&Cs for the ombudsman to give them a kicking if they do not re-instate your deal.0

EDF have just notified me that they have changed my tariff to "Deemed economy 7" from my contract in post 1 - can they do that without authority from me0

SIGNING UP FOR THIS TARIFF MEANS YOU AGREE TO:
•
Have both your electricity and gas supplied by EDF Energy
(See term 3.5)pistonvalve wrote: »EDF have just notified me that they have changed my tariff to "Deemed economy 7" from my contract in post 1 - can they do that without authority from me
Yes - without instruction to the contrary, the supplier has no option but to place you on their expensive default tariff (See term 7.10c)0 -
EDF recommended the easy online tariff KNOWING it was a single fuel supply and on Jan 3rd moved the supply tariff to "deemed economy 7" WITHOUT my knowledge or authority There was no need for any instruction as I was happy with the easy online tariff EDF recommended. OK they made an error by authorizing that tariff. Why should I be made to pay for their mistakes.
Best to switch supplier I think.0 -
Similar tariff I'm on, Easy Online Dec 19 and yes I was aware when I signed up to it that it was a dual fuel tariff. The only blot is that part of the conditions is to have a smart meter fitted by EDF but I already have smart meters fitted by Scottish Power: It appears that EDF are pointing to manual readings "for the time being" and have waived the smart meters requirement.
On accepting a single fuel customer for a strictly dual fuel tariff, E&OE etc.0
