Why on earth are you paying for your credit card bill with a cheque?!
Have you heard of a Direct Debit / Debit card payment to take the minimum amount out so this doesn't happen in the future?
Very few people pay via cheque and some for this very reason!Mortgage as Sept 2012: £96,000

I think most moneysavers would have ensured that they make alternative arrangements to pay their bills during a postal strike rather than take the risk of being slapped by a fee in the first place... being organised would also have saved the time, trouble and expense of having to complain for something that, frankly, was your own doing.
