Where is best to sell CDs? I have a ton I need to get rid of.

Unless they are rare or specially released ones they might not be worth selling, so do your research carefully.

To get a rough idea look at completed sales on eBay (NOT listing prices), and also look on Amazon . On Amazon you can't see sold prices but you need to look rankings, you need the ranking as low as possible.

Also consider selling as lots on eBay, group CDs together and trying selling them in batches of 10 or so for a few pounds. Other than that bulk sell on Facebook, SHpock etc , again in lots.

I assume you've already tried places like music magpie etc?

I would not give up on selling CD's. I quite often buy them at car boot sales. Most sell at 50p or £1 each Some regular car-booters will sell them at £2 each as they are willing to come back each week until they sell them. Strictly speaking these people are not car-booters but semi commercial sellers, but the people who run the car boot sale that I go to allows them in.

However, if you plan to sell them all at a car boot sale at just one visit, then expect to only sell a few unless you are willing to sell them at say 50p each. I have never seen CD's bundled at car boot sales. Buyers tend to like to browse and buy just the odd one or two.

If you've got time I'd recommend going through Amazon. If you have a smartphone you can scan the barcodes on the Amazon app. That takes you to each one. Most of them will be selling at a few pence, the odd one or two will be more. Once you've found ones with any value you can sell them separately. It's usually the ones you don't think will be worth much that actually are, the more popular albums won't be unless they're some kind of special edition.

I've not tried anywhere as wasn't sure where to try. I'll look at music magpie 👍

If you have some bands that have a cult following or harder to find older CDs, you may find them still sought after. Found Now that's what I call Music 10 on a car boot sale but was a bit scratched thrown in with lots of actual worthless CDs.

Be careful with Music Magpie, most will scan at only a few pence. Others will scan for more and the odd one will scan for a lot more.

I'm sure they pay based on some sort of multiple of their profit so that odd one that scans for a few pound you can probably sell yourself for £12 - £15.

It's just taking the time to check out all the ones that stand out from the crowd

Thanks for all the decent replies. Seems like a lot of time (which I don't have) for not much profit so I'm going for ease and going down the music magpie route. Thanks for your help
