Hi.
To give a bit of a backstory...
Last June (2018) we sold our house and applied for a mortgage - 2 searches done on my file
The house sale went ahead but the purchase had an issue with the chain. We told the broker the sale would go ahead but the purchase would not.
In July 2018 we moved into rented and sold the house.
In Dec 2018 Halifax did another credit search against my file for the application.
So i've already queried the Dec 18 search and Halifax refuse to accept any responsiblity for why they just did another search after 6 months without asking if the purchase was still going ahead. They blame my broker for not telling them 100% and refuse to ask Experian and CallCredit to remove the search.
I've already emailed the broker to see what they can do and to stop the application.
I'm also escalating the complaint to the Ombudsmann as i believe its a bad process by Halifax to not check prior to running another credit check.
Now to the point... I have 3 searches over the last 12 months on my file:
2 first mortgage searches for Halifax in June (will they class as one?)
1 first mortgage search for Halifax in Dec.
None have proceeded allthough a full offer was issued.
My question is will 3 searches rather than 2 affect my chances of getting a mortgage?
Am i worrying over nothing or should i make the broker/bank aware when doing my next application when we finally find a house?
Thanks for any help (and hopefully stress relief!)
Oh and... Happy New Year!
Ben

3 searches in a year is a long way from anything to be concerned about.0

No
You'll find a lot of people can easily make 3 (or more) searches in the space of a month
3 in 12 months is nothing...0 -
Sorry for the delayed reply. Thanks both0
