Hi all!
My partner recently had a ticket from our parking management company and it went to the wrong address so because we didn't respond or appeal in due time they have sold the debt to 'Debt Recovery Plus' who are threatening us.
We live at the address and have a valid permit that had fallen onto the car floor. What should we do?
It seems that once you get a parking ticket in this country, you are guilty no matter what.

IGNORE drpl
yes we agree its out of control, which is why the MP,s have a proposed bill going through the Lords at this very moment
now read post #4 of the NEWBIES FAQ sticky thread
then read post #2 of that same thread if an LBC or an MCOL come from the PPC or their legal advisors
and DRPL cannot and do not issue FINES
neither can the PPC either
they issued a PARKING CHARGE NOTICE, or PCN for short, which is actually an INVOICE and nothing more
no private parking company can "FINE" you, they have no authority to do so
neither can they sell on the debt to DRP, drp are acting on their behalf, but DRP do not OWN the debt and they didnt buy it either, so that part is rubbish and no idea why you think that the alleged debt was sold on ?

They have NOT sold the debt to DRP, they cannot do that.
DRP are simply vermin from the sewers and powerless so ignore the idiots

It is the will of Parliament that these scammers be put out of business.
Hopefully that will take place in the near future. The Bill has passed through the HOC without hitch, and goes to the Lords soon. In the meantime involve your MP, the poor dears are buckling under the weight of complaints about these scammers. Read this one which I wrote earlier
This is an entirely unregulated industry which is scamming the public with inflated claims for minor breaches of alleged contracts for alleged parking offences, aided and abetted by a handful of low-rent solicitors. Is has been suggested by an MP that some of these companies may have connections to organised crime.
Parking Eye, CPM, Smart, (especially Smart}, and others have already been named and shamed in the House of Commons as have Gladstones Solicitors, and BW Legal, (these two law firms take hundreds of these cases to court each week), hospital car parks and residential complex tickets have been especially mentioned. They lose most of them, and have been reported to the regulatory authority by an M.P. for unprofessional conduct
The problem has become so widespread that MPs have agreed to enact a Bill to regulate these scammers.
Sir Greg Knight's Private Members Bill to curb the excesses, and perhaps close down, some of these companies passed its Third Reading in late November, and, with a fair wind, will become Law next year.
All three readings are available to watch on the internet, (some 6-7 hours), and published in Hansard. MPs have an extremely low opinion of the industry. Many are complaining that they are becoming overwhelmed by complaints from members of the public. Add to their burden, complain in the most robust terms about the scammers. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -
Why did it go to the wrong address?0

Interesting turn of phrasefrom our parking management company
Trying to put it all together.....( rubs the crystal ball).....We live at the address and have a valid permit
This is a residential case, you live somewhere where you have a parking space, and are currently placing a permit in the vehicles window
Couple of questions - is this your space? does the lease/freehold/rental/whatever for the property allow you to park a vehicle in that space?
is it - the space your property?
If so then why are you displaying a permit? From the Plain Language Commission:
