I think it also matters how it is seperated from the house. If you have an external door then it is less of an issue, but if you remove the door, or have an internal door then the conservatory will need to meet BR standards or you'll have issues with resale.0

Yeah it has an external door to the house and we don't mind keeping this.
It's more a case of whether we have a chance of getting it approved by building control if we decided to reduce the glazing enough that it was no longer classed as a conservatory.0 -

Why are you so determined for it to pass building control?0 -
I'm not really, just exploring options but if we did make any changes to it, would want to do things properly where necessary in case of future resale.
As mentioned in the original post, option 1 would be to just fit solid roof or clad, still conservatory, LABC seem to say this is ok if you just get the roof signed off, our BC has a leaflet on their website about this.
Option 2, fit solid roof and change one of the non-garden facing windows to a solid wall. This would require full building regs to avoid problems with a resale as would then be far below 50% glazed and so no longer classed as a conservatory.
Option 3, decide that it's not worth reducing the light entering the rest of downstairs and leave as is.0 -
What you have is an outbuilding and is exempt from regs so I do t see why you’re intent on wasting money.0
