I was going to post on similar lines. The number of times I've seen people blame others for their mistake is incredible.

Dear OP, adjust the way you cook, you will soon get used to it, if not, sell this one and get the one you wanted. We find eltric fan assited ovens are a dream. I was reluctant to go from gas to eltric but the best thing we have done
    I could not agree more
We have a Neff Circotherm that was in our house when we moved in 7 years ago
If and when it breaks I will buy exactly the same again

Purchased with american express, is there any comeback there?
Why would there be, there's been no breach of contract!

The OP has probably responded to my request in post #2 asking how payment was made, but that was when it looked like it could be faulty which now doesn't appear to be so.

    # Frowns at the amount of shortlinks used in this thread :(

These should not be normalised and should never be clicked
  • For anyone who ever finds themselves in a similar situation to myself, I guess persistence pays off. After the 8th or 9th attempt of ringing currys and numerous hours of being put on hold, Currys have finally agreed to give me a full refund on the premise that the oven is not advertised correctly as it is a continental oven and not actually a conventional oven.

This was after multiple 'managers' told me there was nothing else they could do to help me. So yeh - keep ringing until you speak to the right person!

It wasn't a case of finding the right person - it was a case of them getting fed up of you being a nuisance and this was the easiest method of making you go away. ;)

That might be your understanding of why they refunded, the reality I suspect is that they just wished to be rid of you and your "complaint".

By all means congratulate yourself about your win, but you need to realise that you really did not have a valid complaint and your refund is purely goodwill on the part of the retailer..

Why did I not have a valid complaint? The oven didn't work - what should I have done? Put up with it for the rest of time in case I upset Currys? Multiple reviews on the same oven have complained about exactly the same problems we had so not just me.

Dont worry - we will go and celebrate with a properly cooked piece of meat for my toddler and baby.

After your initial silly error, your were very fortunate that curry’s had also made a silly error. The difference between a conventional gas oven and a continental one is substantial, so you were entitled to have it replaced.
