Bank holiday parking

We got a £70 fine reduced to £35 for yellow line parking yesterday on New Years Day from Norwich City Council. A quick google unfortunately revealed this should be Sunday parking and you can park on a yellow on a Sunday?
Maybe I’m wrong. Such a Shame to start NYD on a bad note! Looking at Council website . There’s nothing re Xmas or Bank Holiday parking. Obviously wish to fine and not help people.!
Any thoughts please?

As we major on private parking tickets here, PePiPoo will be your best bet for council tickets. Register there (but please note that a hotmail address won't work - try using a gmail account instead if you do have trouble registering) and post a new thread; here's your link:
http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?act=SF&s=&f=30
Have a read through some of the other threads there before you post your own to get the hang of what information they need from you in your opening post - but as a minimum you will need to post redacted photos/scans of all correspondence you've received from the council (both sides, if appropriate) as they need to see all the small print.
PePiPoo has an excellent success record in dealing with council tickets.
HTHPlease note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Do you have any images of the signage or can you give the location as stated on the ticket?
But my gut feeling is that the restriction is in force as stated on the plate. There is no exemptions for bank holidays unless it says so on the plate.PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. You should always obtain face to face professional advice before taking any action.0 -
Unless the yellow sign specifically excludes BH then always treat it as a normal working day
EG
No parking
Mon-Fri*
08.30-18-.30
Does NOT make any exceptions to parking on Xmas Day Good Friday or any other BH gtbat may fall Mon-Fri
However if it shows
No parking
08.30-18.30
Mon-Fri*
except BH then you are OK
* there may be difference in times and days such as split times that cover rush hours etc
BUT watch out for when around Xmas when Xmas day falls on a Sat. In this case the BH will be the monday ( you can check this by checking the uk.gov site that works this out)
It looks like you will have to swallow hard and pay but before you do put this query on pepipoo as there could be a 'procedural error' on the reverse re payment and or times in which to pay. They will give you full explanation Like on here it cost nothing0
